below you can see the fernsehturm (tv tower, built 1965-9 in the days of the gdr). it was necessary for me to enthusiastically exclaim how much i liked it whenever i saw it.
we met many new friends, including two white russians (who we drank white russians with all night), maike, who amazed us with her method of transporting .5L beers into clubs by tying them into her laces, and tim who was unsurprisingly less successful in his attempted smuggle of 16 beers into what we now refer to as probably the best bar in the world (see henry and ramsey relaxing below)...
this was not just the best bar because we floated on pontoons on a canal under a willow tree, with a ramshackle bar and dj... but also because the staff offered to put tim's 16 beers in the fridge when he was caught with them. see new friends below..
we were quite overwhelmed with a visit to the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp (1936-1945), and moved by the extroadinary monument to the victims of the holocaust in the centre of town.
